I am from Belgium and graduated in Fashion Design in Brussels. My husband and I wanted to share the fantastic experience of living in another culture with our two year old daughter. Hong Kong is a dynamic and cosmopolitan city with a mix of Eastern and Western culture which I love! Everyone has their own style and way of life, and there is no judgment.
What made you decide to become an image consultant?
My experience in sales made me realise how lost my customers were without help. They came in-store especially to get my advice, and would easily spend 2 to 3 hours shopping. It soon got so busy that we decided to take bookings for Personal Shopping appointments for our VIP clients. But there was never enough time, they wanted to spend more time discussing hair, makeup, colours…that’s when I realised that I was born to be a Stylist and I should offer my own consultations.
After amazing experiences at the world famous Urban Outfitters and the Kelly Shop in Brussels, I decided to start my own business as a freelance Fashion Stylist & Image Consultant.
I grew up in a family where taking care of yourself has always been important. Good health in a good mind, feeling comfortable in your clothes and paying attention to the finer details.
My grandmother was a fan of cosmetics and my sister and I always got given tonnes of new products every week!
What is your favourite type of consultation?
My favourite type of consultation is when my customer leaves with the feeling that I have changed her life!!!
What is your favourite colour?
How would you describe your own personal style?
Glam Rock, Boho but casual too, especially when I am with my daughter!
Who is your celebrity style icon?
I am very inspired by Elin Kling (Founder & Creative Director of high-fashion blog, ‘The Wall’), Anine Bing (Danish Designer, Model & Singer), Olivia Palermo and the amazing Kate Moss.
I have always admired the grace of Jackie Kennedy, she makes me think of my grandmother who had exactly the same style.
How do you keep up with the trends?
Fashion blogs, magazines, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. Though observing people in their everyday life is where I get most of my inspiration from. It is very important for me to always be up to date.
If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?
Honestly, where I live today! But I am in love with Vietnam and Italy too.
Do you have any fashionable words of wisdom to share?
Don't try to follow trends blindly, find your own style according to your curves and colours and always feel comfortable. Never compare yourself to others, every women is unique!
Colour Me Beautiful training has been an amazing experience, everything I learnt complemented my existing skills. I used to do everything on instinct and feeling but now I finally have the answers to back up all my advice! For example, now I understand why you need to wear cold colours if you have porcelain skin, why pastels suit you if you have are a natural light blond...
We studied in detail how to understand body shapes & colouring and based on that develop a client’s individual style. CMB helped me to find a direction, a new start in a new city here in Hong Kong. I have a great relationship with CMB, Eve knows every one of us and will always recommend the best consultant to satisfy the client. It is a pleasure to collaborate with them. Moreover, they always offer us exciting and prestigious projects to work on!
